SPRINGFIELD — Over a dozen residents were displaced in a fire at a three-family home on Worthington Street Tuesday morning.
The fire at 873 Worthington St. was reported shortly after 10 a.m. Tuesday. Fire officials said 15 residents were displaced.
State and city police units were among the first on the scene, state police said, and officers ushered a mother and her two young children from the burning building.
Heavy smoke was seen pouring from the upper stories of the home over 30 minutes into the firefighting effort.
Worthington Street is closed to traffic between Kibbe Avenue and Federal Street.
The building is a three-family home built in 1914 and valued at $123,900, according to city records.
