Holyoke Police arrest Jose Cruz, Daisyre Torres on firearms charges after Beacon Avenue traffic stop

HOLYOKE – Police have charged two city residents with firearms offenses after a traffic stop on Thursday afternoon that led to the temporary closure of Beacon Avenue at the intersection with Oliver Avenue.

Captain Denise Duguay said the stop led to five charges against 27-year-old Jose Cruz of 44 Beacon Ave.; and four charges against Daisyre Torres, 21, of 415 Pleasant St.

MassLive.com observed two pickup trucks parked across the road near the intersection at around 1:10 p.m., and a plainclothes officer wearing a bulletproof vest was in control of the scene. A man sat in a yard with his hands cuffed behind his back.
